What causes pain or stinging at the male urethral meatus during urination?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve noticed a distinct stinging pain at the urethral opening during urination. What could cause such pain at the male urethral opening while urinating?
Painful urination (dysuria) at the male urethral meatus is primarily caused by inflammation, calculi (stones), foreign bodies, or other physical or chemical irritants affecting the bladder or urethral mucosa. Local inflammatory responses associated with conditions such as urethritis, prostatitis, and seminal vesiculitis can directly irritate the urethra, resulting in pronounced stinging or burning pain during urination. Additionally, urolithiasis—including bladder stones and urethral stones—represents another significant and often overlooked contributing factor.
