Consequences of Hysterectomy
Disease description:
I had my uterus removed due to illness. What are the consequences of hysterectomy?
Hysterectomy typically results in the loss of fertility and cessation of menstruation. Additionally, following hysterectomy, reduced pelvic blood flow to the uterus may lead to diminished vaginal elasticity, potentially affecting sexual harmony. This may also cause dyspareunia (painful intercourse) and vaginal dryness. Furthermore, hysterectomy may trigger adverse emotional responses, increasing the risk of depression.
