What causes growths on the eyeball?
Disease description:
Over the past two days, I’ve noticed something growing on my eyeball when looking in the mirror. What could cause a growth on the eyeball?
Growths on the eyeball may be associated with pterygium or pinguecula, or they may result from pigmented spots or nevi in the sclera or bulbar conjunctiva. Local inflammatory lesions cannot be ruled out either. If no other symptoms are present, specific treatment is generally unnecessary; however, regular follow-up examinations at a hospital are recommended. If visual acuity declines, prompt ophthalmologic evaluation and consultation are required.
