How is thrombocytopenic purpura treated?
Disease description:
During my hospital examination, the doctor diagnosed me with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). How is ITP treated?
Patients with thrombocytopenic purpura should undergo allergen testing at a hospital. If the condition is caused by an allergic reaction, oral antiallergic medications—such as loratadine or cetirizine—may be prescribed. In more severe cases, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy may be considered, including the herbal formula Buzhong Yiqi Wan (Tonify the Spleen and Augment Qi Pill) combined with Siwei Yiqi Jiaonang (Four-Ingredient Qi-Tonifying Capsules), which help regulate mental function and enhance alertness, as well as strengthen the spleen and boost qi.
