What Causes Low High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (HDL-C)?
Disease description:
Today, my workplace organized a physical examination, and it was found that my high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level is low. What could be causing this?
Low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels may be associated with cerebrovascular disease and are a relatively common clinical finding in patients with atherosclerosis of the arterial vessels. This condition can lead to cerebral hypoperfusion and increase the risk of ischemic stroke. Additionally, low HDL-C is a manifestation of dyslipidemia and may therefore also result from hyperlipidemia.
