What complications can occur after a facelift?
Disease description:
I have numerous wrinkles on my face and am considering a facelift. What complications or side effects can occur after a facelift?
A facelift—also known as rhytidectomy—commonly results in complications such as bleeding, infection, and scarring. Facelifts are categorized into full (or “major”) facelifts and mini (or “minor”) facelifts. One of the most frequent complications is bleeding; due to the relatively large surgical incision area, localized wound infection may occur if proper care is not taken. Additionally, longer incisions may result in visible scarring.
