There are several primary causes of laryngeal prominence (Adam’s apple) pain. These include localized trauma—such as pinching, strangulation, or blunt impact—as well as other injuries or aseptic inflammation of the laryngeal cartilage membrane secondary to upper respiratory tract infections. Additionally, patients with colds caused by bacterial or viral infections—or exposure to irritants—may experience laryngeal prominence pain alongside symptoms such as cough, sputum production, and dysphagia.
