I just gave birth to a baby, but the doctor mentioned that the baby’s weight is slightly low. What is the standard weight range for newborns?

Dr. Xiang Jinhong
The standard birth weight for infants typically ranges from approximately 3 to 4 kg (6–8 jin). Newborns generally weigh between 3 and 4 kg, with an average length of about 48–53 cm. As each baby’s development varies, there can be considerable individual variation in birth weight. If the baby shows no other abnormal symptoms and was born at full term, there is usually no cause for excessive concern. Routine care measures should be implemented to support the infant’s healthy development.
