I’m seven months pregnant. Today, my mom reminded me that I should go for a prenatal checkup—I’d completely forgotten! She said I don’t worry about anything and urged me to pay more attention to myself. I’d like to ask: What precautions should I take during the seventh month of pregnancy?

At seven months of pregnancy, it is important to visit the hospital for an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) to screen for gestational diabetes. If gestational diabetes is diagnosed, dietary control is essential, and medication—under the guidance of a healthcare provider—may be required to manage blood glucose levels. Additionally, prevention of preterm labor is critical. Seek immediate medical evaluation if you experience any of the following: vaginal spotting (“show”), regular uterine contractions, leakage of fluid from the vagina (suggesting rupture of membranes), or persistent lower abdominal pain. Fetal movement should also be monitored regularly; report to your healthcare provider promptly if you notice a significant decrease or increase in fetal activity.
