Under normal circumstances, individuals with AB blood type should ideally receive AB blood during emergency transfusions. If AB blood is unavailable, type O blood may be considered as an alternative. Additionally, type A or type B blood can also be administered, and significant immune reactions are generally uncommon. The AB blood type is considered a “universal recipient,” meaning that when AB blood is in short supply, other blood types may be used as substitutes.
