Is Aureomycin eye ointment effective for removing milia?
Disease description:
While washing my face, I noticed numerous milia around my eyes, which significantly affect my appearance. A friend suggested I try Aureomycin eye ointment—would it be effective for treating milia?
Chlortetracycline eye ointment does not eliminate milia. Milia arise from various causes—such as the use of certain cosmetic products containing specific chemical ingredients or endocrine imbalances—leading to keratinization of the pilosebaceous ducts; consequently, normally secreted sebum cannot be expelled externally, resulting in small epidermal cysts. Chlortetracycline eye ointment is an antibiotic and may be applied only when milia become inflamed or swollen.
