Can men with teratozoospermia undergo IVF?
Disease description:
The examination diagnosed me with teratozoospermia. I want to have a child—can I undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) for this condition?
Teratozoospermia (abnormal sperm morphology) does not preclude undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), the second-generation IVF technique, enables men with poor sperm quality or infertility to achieve biological parenthood. This procedure involves selecting morphologically superior sperm and directly injecting a single viable sperm into each mature oocyte, thereby significantly improving the chances of successful fertilization and pregnancy. Following a confirmed diagnosis of teratozoospermia, patients are advised to actively cooperate with their physicians’ treatment plans to avoid disease progression or delays in management.
