Disease description:

Due to high work-related stress, I was not planning to have children at this time. However, I became unexpectedly pregnant and subsequently underwent an abortion procedure at the hospital. I am concerned about potential effects of the procedure on my body. Could you please explain the post-abortion precautions and possible complications?

Dr. Cao Ting
After an abortion, it is essential to rest adequately and avoid excessive physical exertion. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for one month following the procedure, and a follow-up visit to the hospital should be scheduled promptly after the return of menstruation. Abortion inevitably causes some degree of physical harm to women, and potential postoperative complications may include menstrual disorders, intrauterine adhesions, cervical adhesions, and recurrent miscarriage. If postoperative infection is not treated promptly, ascending infection may occur, leading to complications such as tubal hydrosalpinx, tubal adhesions, or even tubal obstruction.
