Pain above the navel may be caused by gastric disorders, typically manifesting as discomfort in the left upper abdomen. It may also result from chronic cholecystitis, which commonly causes pain in the upper abdomen—particularly in the right upper quadrant. Additionally, umbilical inflammation (omphalitis) could be responsible; due to inflammatory irritation, not only the navel itself but also the surrounding area—including the region above the navel—may become painful.
