Why does the testicle itch?

I’ve noticed that my testicles have been itchy lately, especially at night while I’m sleeping. Sometimes the itching subsides after scratching a few times. What causes testicular itching?

Testicular itching may be caused by wearing tight-fitting underwear or by scrotal eczema. Tight underwear has poor breathability, and sweat cannot evaporate promptly, leading to prolonged moisture accumulation in the scrotal area; combined with friction from the underwear, this easily causes itching. If personal hygiene is neglected, fungal infection of the scrotal skin may occur, resulting in scrotal eczema and associated testicular itching. In such cases, prompt medical consultation and treatment are recommended.
