Disease description:

Because I didn’t want children when I was young, I underwent several abortions. However, I’ve heard that multiple abortions may increase the risk of ectopic pregnancy—can early pregnancy test strips detect ectopic pregnancy?

In clinical practice, ectopic pregnancy typically cannot be detected using early pregnancy test strips. This is because ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterine cavity, whereas early pregnancy test strips primarily detect human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine. Therefore, prompt medical consultation is recommended. Under a physician’s guidance, transvaginal or abdominal ultrasound should be performed to assess whether a gestational sac is present within the uterus, thereby confirming or ruling out ectopic pregnancy.
