Disease description:

I felt unwell two days ago and went to the hospital for a checkup, where I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My doctor recommended undergoing an LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) surgery. I would like to know the post-operative precautions following LEEP.

After undergoing LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) surgery, patients should be aware of certain postoperative considerations. Increased vaginal discharge is common after the procedure; however, if the discharge develops a noticeable odor or becomes watery, vaginal irrigation may be recommended to reduce the risk of secondary infection. Patients are generally advised to abstain from sexual intercourse and avoid sitz baths (or tub baths) for at least three months following LEEP surgery. Typically, a follow-up examination is scheduled one month after surgery, during which the physician will assess the cervical wound healing, check for signs of secondary infection, and evaluate for vaginal inflammation or other complications.
