During menstruation, it is advisable to avoid raw, cold, or spicy foods—especially items taken directly from the refrigerator—as they may impair uterine contractility, hinder menstrual blood expulsion, and lead to blood clot formation. The uterus may then intensify contractions to expel these clots, resulting in dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation). Additionally, women with heavy menstrual bleeding should limit consumption of heat-inducing foods—such as beef, mutton, longan, and lychee—as these may exacerbate bleeding and potentially cause symptoms of hemorrhagic anemia.
