What causes fleshy growths around the anus?
Disease description:
I always feel some discomfort around the anus during bowel movements; later, I noticed a small fleshy lump at the anal opening. What causes fleshy growths to appear at the anal opening?
A fleshy growth near the anal opening may indicate hemorrhoids, commonly including connective tissue external hemorrhoids, inflammatory external hemorrhoids, and thrombosed external hemorrhoids. Connective tissue external hemorrhoids typically present as soft, painless skin tags around the anal margin, without associated pain or other symptoms. In contrast, inflammatory and thrombosed external hemorrhoids are often accompanied by anal pain and other symptoms. Additionally, rectal polyps and condyloma acuminatum (genital warts) are also common causes.
