Patients with lung cancer should avoid certain “heat-inducing” or “trigger” foods during their illness, such as pork head meat, dog meat, and buckwheat noodles. These foods may promote internal heat and fire, potentially triggering symptoms like coughing and impairing normal lung function—thereby hindering recovery from lung cancer. Additionally, patients should avoid highly irritating foods, including chili peppers, scallions, garlic, and black pepper, as these can irritate the respiratory tract, exacerbate coughing, and impede disease recovery.
