During my previous hospital visit, the doctor mentioned that complementary foods can be introduced when the baby is six months old. What are some appropriate complementary food recipes for this age?

A six-month-old infant’s diet primarily consists of cow’s milk and breast milk; however, exclusive breastfeeding is generally recommended as the optimal feeding method. For infants whose mothers produce insufficient breast milk, mixed feeding (breast milk supplemented with formula) may be appropriate. During this period, it is important to avoid giving fresh (unmodified) cow’s milk to the infant, as it may overload the immature digestive system and cause gastrointestinal discomfort. Additionally, infants at this stage may begin consuming small amounts of complementary foods, such as fruit purees, vegetable purees, and egg yolk.
