Are the side effects of the rotavirus vaccine significant?
Disease description:
Today, we took our baby to get vaccinated. The doctor at the vaccination clinic recommended administering the rotavirus vaccine orally to our baby. Could you please tell us whether the rotavirus vaccine has significant side effects?
The side effects of the rotavirus vaccine are generally mild, and most recipients experience no adverse reactions. This vaccine is primarily used to prevent autumnal diarrhea. In rare cases, some infants may experience mild adverse reactions after vaccination, such as nausea, vomiting, low-grade fever, or decreased appetite; these symptoms typically resolve spontaneously within 2–3 days and do not require specific treatment. After oral administration of the vaccine, ensure the infant gets adequate rest and drinks plenty of fluids.
