Can a right-sided epididymal cyst resolve spontaneously?
Disease description:
During my recent workplace physical examination, a cyst in the right epididymis was detected. The doctor said it’s not serious. I would like to ask: Can an epididymal cyst be cured?
A right-sided epididymal cyst typically does not resolve spontaneously, nor does it usually continue to enlarge. Epididymal cysts are benign lesions; however, when they grow large enough to compress surrounding tissues, complications such as peritonitis or chronic prostatitis may occur, potentially causing discomfort in the testis and epididymis. In most cases, fertility is not affected, and routine follow-up examinations are sufficient. If symptoms such as pain or infection develop, surgical excision of the cyst is an effective treatment option.
