What Causes Acute Testicular Torsion?
Disease description:
My colleague developed acute testicular torsion and was promptly taken to the hospital. I would like to understand what causes acute testicular torsion.
Acute testicular torsion may be caused by vigorous physical activity, excessive fatigue, or trauma, or it may result from abnormal testicular development. When acute testicular torsion occurs, prompt medical attention at a hospital is essential; in most cases, manual reduction is possible. Acute testicular torsion must not be delayed or attempted to be self-managed at home, as this could lead to testicular necrosis.
