Generalized muscle weakness and soreness may occur following strenuous physical labor or exercise, leading to lactic acid accumulation in the body; this lactic acid then affects various muscle groups. It may also result from upper respiratory tract infections or acute tonsillitis, where viral invasion causes systemic involvement of muscles and joints. Additionally, more serious underlying conditions—such as myasthenia gravis—can also cause this symptom.
