What Causes Acne on the Chest?

The reason for acne (also known as pimples or comedones) on the chest is the relatively high density of sebaceous glands in the anterior chest area. Acne is a common skin condition among young people—not only affecting the face but also frequently occurring on the chest. After puberty, androgen levels in the body rise significantly. Under the influence of androgens, sebaceous gland activity increases markedly, leading to excessive sebum production. When this excess sebum cannot be properly expelled from the hair follicles, it accumulates within them, forming sebum plugs—commonly referred to as pimples.
