Once dermatographism (artificial urticaria) develops, the triggering factors must be eliminated—such as avoiding overly tight clothing and minimizing external mechanical stimulation. Topical treatments include products like Xiehe Xiji ointment or corticosteroid-based ointments, as well as pruritus-relieving topical agents such as borneol and menthol. Oral antihistamines may also be administered. Currently, oral medication represents the most important therapeutic approach for dermatographism.
