Can people with high uric acid levels eat freshwater fish?
Disease description:
I love eating fish, especially freshwater fish. However, I’ve recently been diagnosed with hyperuricemia and would like to know: Is it safe for people with high uric acid levels to consume freshwater fish?
Freshwater fish may be consumed in moderation. Avoid predatory fish such as mandarin fish, which have high purine content; crucian carp, by contrast, has relatively low purine content. Individuals with hyperuricemia should still ensure adequate intake of essential nutrients—this does not mean all meats must be avoided.
