Patients with yellowish skin tone and melasma may take tranexamic acid, glutathione, and other oral medications, and apply topical agents such as arbutin gel, hydroquinone, and L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Arbutin is photosensitive; therefore, it is recommended for evening use only. Hydroquinone may cause mild irritation. For patients requiring prompt treatment, appropriate photonic or laser therapies—such as Q-switched lasers or intense pulsed light (IPL)—may be considered. Additionally, patients should rigorously practice sun protection, especially during spring and summer. When outdoors or spending extended periods near windows, they should apply broad-spectrum sunscreen, wear hats, or use umbrellas—measures that significantly support disease recovery.
