Disease description:

I’m 30 years old this year. Recently, I’ve developed numerous rashes all over my body, accompanied by intense itching. After seeking medical evaluation, the doctor diagnosed it as an allergic reaction. I’d like to know what to do when experiencing sudden, unexplained whole-body itching due to allergy.

There are numerous causes of systemic allergic reactions and pruritus. When skin allergy and itching occur, the first step is to identify and eliminate the allergen—whether it is encountered through contact or ingestion. Particular attention should be paid to medications known to trigger cutaneous allergic reactions, which must be strictly avoided in the future. In terms of treatment, for drug-induced systemic allergic reactions, increased oral fluid intake is recommended to enhance the metabolism and elimination of the offending drug. Oral antihistamines such as chlorpheniramine and cetirizine may be administered. For localized skin lesions—such as urticarial wheals or wheal-like changes—topical application of compound calamine lotion can help alleviate the allergic skin reaction. In cases of severe pruritus, extensive or multiple skin lesions, or in severe systemic allergic reactions, systemic corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone) may be prescribed orally.
