Which department should I visit for hypertrophic scarring?
Disease description:
The scar I developed after a previous fall seems to have developed something else on top of it. I suspect it might be a hypertrophic scar and would like to know: Which department should I visit for hypertrophic scarring?
Postpartum scar hypertrophy is generally associated with individual constitution. In some individuals, hypertrophic scars gradually fade over time; however, in those with a keloid-prone (or “scar-prone”) constitution, scars are more likely to become hypertrophic and difficult to resolve. If scar hypertrophy occurs within one and a half months postpartum, you may visit the obstetrics department. If a longer period has elapsed since delivery, either the gynecology or general surgery department would be appropriate.
