How to treat molluscum contagiosum
Disease description:
I have developed numerous molluscum contagiosum lesions on my hands, severely affecting my daily life and significantly undermining my self-confidence. How is molluscum contagiosum treated?
Molluscum contagiosum—also known as “water warts”—should be treated under sterile conditions using a sterile needle or sterile forceps to puncture or extract the lesions. A 2.5% tincture of iodine may be applied locally, followed by gentle pressure to achieve hemostasis. Regular disinfection is recommended; lesions typically fall off within approximately seven days. It is especially important to avoid scratching the affected area with bare hands, as this may lead to recurrent infection. Additionally, maintain cleanliness and perform routine disinfection of the surrounding environment.
