What should I do if I develop perianal eczema?
Disease description:
I’ve been feeling itchy around my anus for the past couple of days. My doctor diagnosed me with anal eczema—what should I do now that I have this condition?
Clinically, perianal eczema is primarily managed with symptomatic treatment. Under a physician’s guidance, patients may use topical medications such as mometasone furoate cream or tacrolimus ointment. If pruritus is present, antihistamines—such as cetirizine—may be added to alleviate symptoms. During treatment, patients should avoid scratching the affected area to prevent secondary infection.
