Today, I noticed melasma on my face while looking in the mirror—there are patches of dark spots on the skin surface, significantly affecting my appearance. Will the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) associated with melasma improve?

Melasma-related hyperpigmentation (rebound darkening) typically resolves on its own. If the rebound darkening is mild, recovery usually takes about two weeks. However, more severe cases may require a longer recovery period. Therefore, strict sun protection is essential after melasma treatment: apply broad-spectrum sunscreen and wear a sun-protective umbrella when outdoors to prevent UV-induced skin damage.
