What Should I Do If My Glans Penis Is Bitten by a Mosquito?
Disease description:
My husband is 25 years old. This morning, he woke up with itching and red spots on the glans penis—resembling mosquito bites. We’d like to know how to manage a mosquito bite on the glans penis.
The glans penis has been bitten by insects, resulting in mild symptoms—such as slight erythema and papules. Topical anti-inflammatory and antipruritic agents—e.g., gentian violet solution or lincomycin—may be applied; these exert anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and anti-edematous effects. In individuals with heightened sensitivity or pronounced local inflammation—manifesting as vesicles, erosion, etc.—a 3% boric acid solution or furacilin solution may be used for topical application. Typically applied twice daily, these solutions provide anti-edematous, dampness-resolving, and anti-inflammatory effects. Topical fusidic acid cream may also be applied locally to prevent secondary bacterial infection. Additionally, systemic therapy with oral medications may be considered. Commonly used oral agents include chlorhexidine and cetirizine; alternatively, compound glycyrrhizin may be administered orally in combination for enhanced anti-inflammatory effect.
