For blister beetle bites, the first step is to drain any large blisters or vesicles that have formed. The affected area should then be washed with soap and followed by cold, wet compresses. After the compresses, gently pat the area dry. Next, apply a topical antibiotic ointment locally. If local inflammatory reactions are severe—such as intense burning or stinging sensations—topical corticosteroid ointment may be used in conjunction with the antibiotic ointment to reduce inflammation.
