Disease description:

My son recently developed numerous itchy pimples on his body, and his condition has not improved. When we visited the hospital, the doctor diagnosed it as a reaction to toxic insect bites. I would like to know which topical ointment is appropriate for treating toxic insect bites.

Bites from venomous insects can trigger allergic inflammation and edema. Diphenhydramine ointment or compound dexamethasone ointment may be used—both possess anti-inflammatory and antiallergic properties, helping to relieve itching and edema caused by insect bites. Patients may also apply topical erythromycin ointment or Baidu Fang ointment. These ointments can be combined with povidone-iodine (iodophor) for disinfection; iodophor has anti-inflammatory effects and is effective in alleviating redness, swelling, and pain associated with venomous insect bites.

Medication use must be guided by a qualified physician. During treatment, patients are advised to follow a light diet and avoid spicy or irritating foods.
