What Should Be Done for Fungal Infections in Pediatric Diarrhea?
Disease description:
The child has had diarrhea for several days. Medication has been administered, but there has been no improvement. We would like to know how to manage fungal infection–related diarrhea in children.
If a child develops diarrhea—especially if it is caused by a fungal infection—the first step is to reduce their food intake and provide easily digestible foods. It is essential to ensure adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration resulting from diarrhea. Antibiotic treatment may include ampicillin or gentamicin. Concurrently, administer a probiotic preparation containing *Lactobacillus casei*, which not only helps restore intestinal flora but also enhances appetite, improves digestive and absorptive function, and regulates the child’s gastrointestinal function to aid in recovery.
