Can patients with chronic prostatitis hold their urine?
Disease description:
I’ve had chronic prostatitis for some time, but due to work requirements, I may need to hold urine for prolonged periods. Is it safe for someone with chronic heart failure to hold urine?
Patients with chronic prostatitis should avoid holding urine. Prolonged urine retention is a major contributing factor to prostatitis. Holding urine can easily cause urinary reflux into the prostate gland, thereby irritating and triggering prostatic inflammation. Once prostatitis has been diagnosed, it is essential to avoid urine retention, drink plenty of water, urinate frequently, and flush the urethra promptly to prevent worsening of the condition.
