Low sperm viability may be associated with diseases, genetic factors, and lifestyle habits. Genetic disorders include abnormalities of the sex chromosomes. Unhealthy lifestyle habits—such as chronic sleep deprivation, smoking, and alcohol consumption—can also reduce sperm viability.
