How to Relieve Acute Stomach Pain at Night
Disease description:
I don’t know what happened—I was sleeping soundly in the middle of the night when I suddenly developed stomach pain. I’d like to know how to relieve acute stomach pain that occurs at night.
Gastric pain occurring at midnight may be managed as follows: If the pain is mild, drinking some warm water may help—this replenishes bodily fluids, promotes metabolism, and dilutes gastric acid, thereby providing some symptomatic relief. Alternatively, one may gently cradle the stomach with both hands, slowly squat down, and lean the upper body forward onto the thighs, maintaining this position for one to two minutes to alleviate discomfort.
If the pain is severe, oral analgesic medications should be taken strictly as prescribed by a physician—for example, domperidone tablets, trimebutine, or lansoprazole. Should medication provide insufficient relief and the pain progressively worsen, prompt medical evaluation at a reputable hospital is essential.
