What Are the Common Diseases in Gastroenterology?
Disease description:
I often experience stomach pain and suspect I have a gastric condition. I’d like to get it checked out, but first, I’d like to know: What are the common diseases treated by gastroenterologists?
Common gastrointestinal disorders include diarrhea, indigestion, gastritis, and constipation. If you experience any of these conditions, it is important to maintain a light diet and consume plenty of vitamin-rich vegetables and fruits. Avoid raw, cold, spicy, or otherwise irritating foods that may aggravate gastrointestinal discomfort. Engaging in moderate physical activity after meals can help stimulate gastrointestinal motility and improve digestion. Over-the-counter digestive aids such as Jianwei Xiaoshi Pian (a traditional Chinese medicine for promoting digestion and strengthening the stomach) may also be helpful. If gastric pain occurs approximately two hours after eating—and is sometimes relieved by food intake—along with symptoms of acid reflux, this may indicate duodenal ulcer or duodenitis.
