What are the symptoms of chronic gastritis?
Disease description:
For the past few days, I’ve experienced indigestion after each meal—specifically, heartburn and belching. I suspect this may be caused by chronic gastritis. What are the symptoms of chronic gastritis?
Chronic gastritis primarily presents with dyspeptic symptoms, including dull epigastric pain, anorexia, postprandial fullness, nausea, and acid regurgitation. Severe atrophic gastritis may manifest as weight loss, diarrhea, and anemia. Patients with gastric mucosal erosion may experience hematemesis and melena; chronic low-grade bleeding can lead to iron-deficiency anemia. Some patients may also exhibit neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as memory impairment, anxiety, and depression. Autoimmune gastritis typically presents with anorexia, anemia, weight loss, and generalized weakness.
