Dr. Li Qinghui
Hello, thalassemia is a hemolytic anemia caused by reduced or absent synthesis of one or more globin chains due to abnormalities—including deletions or mutations—in one or more globin genes. This leads to imbalanced globin chain production, resulting in hemolysis and ineffective erythropoiesis, with severity varying among individuals. Microcytic hypochromic anemia encompasses two major types: α-thalassemia and β-thalassemia. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a pleasant life!
