How to Treat Tinea (Ringworm)
Disease description:
A large patch of ringworm has appeared on my hand, and it frequently sheds skin. I would like to ask how tinea (ringworm) of the skin is treated.
Dermatophytosis (tinea) can be treated with a combination of topical and oral antifungal medications. The primary goals of treatment are eradication of the causative fungi and symptom relief. Topical therapy should be selected under medical supervision according to the specific clinical presentation—options include solutions, creams, pastes, or powders—such as clotrimazole or terbinafine. Oral antifungal agents, such as itraconazole or griseofulvin, may also be prescribed under physician guidance. If a secondary bacterial infection is present, antibiotics should be administered concurrently.
