What Are the Differences Between Disposable Masks and Disposable Medical Masks?
Disease description:
Now that we wear masks daily, I’d like to learn more about them. What are the differences between disposable masks and disposable medical masks?
Disposable masks and disposable medical masks differ in their manufacturing processes. The middle layer of a disposable mask is made of standard melt-blown nonwoven fabric, whereas the melt-blown layer of a disposable medical mask undergoes electret treatment. Consequently, their protective capabilities differ: disposable masks can block droplets and dust, while disposable medical masks can additionally filter out microscopic pathogens. Their intended uses also differ—disposable masks are suitable for general populations, whereas disposable medical masks are typically mandatory for healthcare personnel.
