Is it concerning if a lumbar disc herniation causes one leg to appear thicker?
Disease description:
Lumbar disc herniation does not cause one leg to become larger or smaller. The severity of lumbar disc herniation should be assessed based on the prominence of clinical symptoms. For mild cases—where neurological compression is minimal and leg pain is not severe—conservative treatment options may be considered, such as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) acupuncture, massage, topical medicated plasters, physical therapy, treatments promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, anti-inflammatory and analgesic measures, and neurotrophic agents. Adequate rest, local heat application, massage, and spinal traction may also help alleviate symptoms. Diet-wise, consume plenty of fruits and vegetables, and include lean pork in moderation. Wishing you good health!
