Disease description:

Recently, I’ve had to work overtime and stay up late frequently due to job demands. However, I’m currently undergoing medication treatment for tuberculosis (TB), and I’m concerned that staying up late might affect my treatment. Could you please explain how sleep deprivation impacts TB treatment?

Dr. Guo Xiheng
Staying up late is not beneficial for the recovery of pulmonary tuberculosis. Frequent late-night activity in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis may exacerbate the disease, prolong treatment duration, reduce immune resistance, and directly impair treatment efficacy. Therefore, patients with pulmonary tuberculosis should prioritize adequate rest during treatment and avoid fatigue and staying up late.
