Is frequent palpitation a sign of myocardial ischemia?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing frequent palpitations over the past week, which are very uncomfortable. I’m unsure whether this might be due to myocardial ischemia. Is frequent palpitation a sign of myocardial ischemia?
Frequent palpitations may indicate myocardial ischemia. Myocardial ischemia is a pathological condition that impairs cardiac function and can cause various symptoms, including palpitations, a sensation of a racing or pounding heart, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and dyspnea. Therefore, frequent palpitations may be a manifestation of myocardial ischemia. However, frequent palpitations may also be associated with other factors, such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, sleep deprivation, or emotional stress.
