Recently, I’ve been going to the bathroom several times a day for no apparent reason, and I also feel a sensation of heaviness or pressure in the anal area. What could be causing this feeling of anal fullness or pressure along with increased bowel movements?

A sensation of rectal fullness (tenesmus) and increased bowel movement frequency may be associated with the following conditions: 1. **Gastrointestinal disorders**: For example, enteritis—often triggered by bacterial or viral infection—causes intestinal inflammation. This not only leads to rectal fullness and increased bowel movements but may also cause diarrhea and abdominal pain in some patients. 2. **Hemorrhoids**: These can cause both rectal fullness and increased bowel movement frequency, as well as perianal pruritus and pain. In severe cases, hemorrhoids may lead to prolapse or fecal incontinence. Additionally, other conditions—including rectal mucosal prolapse, perianal abscess, rectal tumors, and rectal polyps—can also result in rectal fullness and increased bowel movement frequency.
